Bread for All’s developing U.S. initiative focuses on a clear objective: reducing the cost of essential staple foods for everyday families by redesigning how these products reach local stores.
This initiative includes the development of DailyGrain™, our planned line of affordable staple food products that will be available through participating neighborhood grocery stores.
Rather than providing direct food handouts, our U.S. initiative strengthens community-based food access by partnering with neighborhood grocery stores and using a wholesale procurement model that lowers retail prices, quietly, effectively, and without stigma.
Food insecurity is not always visible. Many working families earn too much to qualify for food assistance but still struggle with grocery prices, especially for staples like rice, lentils, beans, and flour.
We designed this program to:
This complements our international humanitarian work, but it is not the same model – the U.S. program is built on market intervention, not charity distribution.
We will source staple food items from cost-efficient suppliers across the Midwest, California, and reputable international markets. By purchasing in high volumes and reducing intermediaries, we expect to achieve significantly lower per-unit costs, allowing us to introduce DailyGrain™ affordable staple products into local communities.
We will collaborate with neighborhood grocery stores that already serve multicultural communities like Pakistani, Indian, Latino, African, Middle Eastern, and other independent markets.
Participating stores will agree to:
This approach transforms local stores into accessible, dignity-preserving food access points without creating a charitable or subsidy appearance.
To keep prices stable and fair, we will establish a maximum retail price for each DailyGrain™ product. The focus is not profit, but affordable, predictable pricing for families most affected by rising food costs.
We will collaborate with neighborhood grocery stores that already serve multicultural communities like Pakistani, Indian, Latino, African, Middle Eastern, and other independent markets.
To ensure the program remains consistent and equitable, we will:
This approach transforms local stores into accessible, dignity-preserving food access points without creating a charitable or subsidy appearance.
This program fills a gap between food banks and full-price retail.
Instead of charity lines…
Instead of dependence on donations for individual meals…
We build a permanent, market-based affordability structure by optimizing the supply chain.
